Only 14k people on here have seen this? 14k!? This movie gets referenced in movies and TV shows all the time! Well if you haven’t seen it and are a fan of 80’s cheese then it’s definitely a must watch!
The movie I feel gets better as it goes along! The start of the movie is a whole lot different to the end and in all the best ways! I didn’t really know what the film was about and the first fifteen minutes is a totally different film compared to the rest! Richard Gere is very good here as an 80’s leading man! He has true character development that really does take its time to come through! And that’s what I love, the way all the characters are written! They all have depth and flaws that the movie doesn’t shy away from! They’re all pretty complicated in their own way, some more than others but it still pays off! I also really admire how the movie constantly keeps you on your feet! It’s definitely not a boring movie! What I will say though is that some scenes can feel a bit unnecessary! They make some scenes longer than they need to be, it’s not a massive issue but it’s something I noticed! But rest assured that if you’re an 80’s fan of any kind, you’ll eat this up!
Overall, An Officer and a Gentleman is a well made movie, with interesting characters, great performances and an entertaining story! I had such a good time with this one and if you’re any kind of 80’s movies fan then I believe you will too!
