Coco, at one point, was also a favorite Pixar movie of mine. At times a little heavy handed with some of its themes and in particular, I didn't think that it needed a villain to be truthful, but I did love the connection of music and the vividly gorgeous imagery found within the film. Coco felt good, it very very lush and lively despite it's focus on death and in so many fantastic and beautiful ways, it presents the concept of Death and how to cope and handle it within a lovely manner outside of the North American consciousness. The songs, too, are stunningly good and the utter evolution of Remember Me throughout the film is incredible. One, though, could've been happier with a larger variety of song choices but maybe that is part of the point. I also would've been fine, too, with a larger selection of poetry in the film. Nonetheless, Coco was a thrilling and exciting watch from Pixar and one that was truly something else to behold.
