The filmmaking in this film is simply devastating. The movie is like lightning in a bottle. The cast is a who's who of serious actors from the last 40 years. The cinematography is otherworldly at times and perfectly executed. The score may be the best score in recent memory. It is pure cinematic spectacle in the age of full CGI nightmare films.
The three hours pass quickly. It feels like the culmination of all the concepts that Nolan has played with in the past. As someone who has not enjoyed his work post-Inception as much as his work pre-Inception, it is nice to see him return to form.
The film feels like a movie that would have been made in an era long past. Every frame feels like a beautiful photograph come to life. It reminds me of why I studied photography and film and has revived my love of movies in a way that I didn't think was possible.
