love comes crumbling down when fantasy dies.

i was conflicted on what to rate this. i decided to be generous to compensate for all the fun-hating people on this app. i’ll start by addressing the elephant in the room… the fact that this was basically a musical. it’s an stylistic choice that i personally wouldn’t have made, but then again… it’s the goddam joker, he’s insane, it’s not out of character for him to make up musical numbers in his head. he is literally a clown. that being said, the message was beautifully delivered (i won’t elaborate on that because i try to keep my reviews spoiler-free) and joaquin phoenix’s performance was superb as usual.
