I'm a huge fan of both animation and Disney so naturally I was really excited going into this. However at the end I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed.
While I appreciated the themes that were covered and the passion behind the project it felt extremely rushed, it felt more like a snippet or maybe a trailer for a bigger film. By the end of it I couldn't decide if anything had actually happened, there didn't seem to be much story certainly no substance and the family seemed to pretty much stay the same. No one seemed to grow or change and the family dynamic was virtually unaltered from the start of the film.
The songs are the clear strong point of the film but they are pretty generic and not a stand out compared to other Disney projects, just the best part of a below average film.
I unfortunately wouldn't recommend. The premise is to show that families can grow by accepting one another and not expecting perfection and yet it completely fails in this. Disappointing
