I love Coco! this is only my second time watching it and I can already safely say it's one of Pixar's best and one of my favourites. I will stand by the fact that I think this is the best looking and maybe best feeling film they have ever done. A truly beautiful experience, visually and emotionally. From the vibrant colours, the outstanding music, the great characters, the fulfilling ending, this never fails to engulf me in emotion and take me on a stunning, fun filled adventure.
One of the most important and unique parts of Coco, is that it has such a fun, interesting take on the idea of life after death, I actually find it quite uplifting and moving when I really think about it. This idea that we are reunited with our loved ones in some magical, happy place that is contingent on if and how we are being remembered by the people we have left behind. The knowledge that our actions matter in such a meaningful way is such an incredible concept and an important message for anyone at any age, I think that's special.
I think that's why I love Coco so much in such a small space of time. You can either watch it on pure face value, as a visually stunning adventure, with likeable characters and amazing music that you can't help but move to. Or you can watch it as a deep, emotional family drama that focuses on death and how important what we leave behind is. While not quite Pixar's best yet for me, I still think it's one of their masterpieces that I have no doubt the more I watch the more i'll love.
