Love to see Domingo cook like this, even if he’s the only one cooking. And I do like how the film and Branford Marsalis’s score give building a movement a sense of kick. Change excites. It’s provocative. It gets the people going.
But why Chris Rock is here, I do not know. Casting like that just makes me distrust the filmmaker. It’s not about whether or not Chris Rock can do it. It’s that whenever he’s on screen all most viewers can think is “There’s Chris Rock.” Why undermine your movie like that?
