Like even great non-fiction, the prose style may not wow me, but the storytelling is so expansive, so exhaustively multifaceted. Basically by default one of the best films ever made about race in America. No other has gone this wide and this deep. One of my favorite moments is when one of the jury flat out admits she voted to acquit as payback for Rodney King. When Ezra asks if she thinks that was right, her shrug conveys a world unto itself. It's almost as if to say: this went above me, like she was merely a vessel for the law Baldwin said we all recognize when we say, "Whatever goes up, must go down."
