Omg?? This is absolutely amazing, and actually might be my favorite Coppola film. I tried watching this yesterday but was very tired and ended up falling asleep during the third act. Rewatched it from the very beginning and actually finished it and I’ll tell you now, starting the film over was such a good idea because I love it even more now.
This whole time and during my half watch I thought it was just some war movie with a mission and with characters slowly dying along the way, I also wasn’t fully invested. But today when I watched it, I understood what the film actually is, about the sanity and mental state of what war can do to someone. And I absolutely love that more than a plain war movie, what Coppola does here is so fucking good. The cinematography, the score and soundtrack, the acting, it’s all so brilliant and I love this. It’s shot up all the way to my top 5 spot and this is the best war film I’ve seen to date. Perfect film.
