La La Land is the movie of the year, whether you like it or not.
The passion, and joy that glows off of the screen is truly contagious, and the moment that the credits slowed to a stop was one of the most bitter sweet theater going experiences of my life. From my memory, this the only instance in which the entire audience stayed in their seats so that the beautiful music could sweep over them.
La La Land is something that every filmmaker wishes he could make, and I'm ecstatic that it was Damien Chazelle that got to do it.
