I really don't get all the negativity and vitriol for these last few entries in the series, most people who haven't even seen a single movie knows about the saw series, and have a general idea of what it's about. If you know what you're getting into, you're gonna have an enjoyable and at the very least watchable 90+ minutes of entertainment. The cinematography is definitely a step up to what a multi million dollar Hollywood production should look like, but the charm is inadvertently lost. This made me miss the green tints and disgustingly 2000's editing, but I get why they did that, update it for modern 2017 audiences. The kills were mostly good, but it's weird they didn't push the gore further, and show the aftermath of these traps like other entries in the series have, felt like it was trying its hardest to ride the line between hard PG-13 and soft R rating and stay down to get as wide an audience as possible. There was a moment where one of the main characters has a fake out "you mother f-" before getting interrupted, like you'd see in a PG-13 horror movie or even a T.V. show, it was just silly, if you're going to make an R rated Saw movie, make it feel like an R rated Saw movie. With those gripes being stated, I found it hilarious that there was another accomplice, alongside the other t̶w̶o̶ three accomplices we spent 7 combined movies learning about, that was not necessary at all, but very welcomed by me. The more convoluted the better, which I don't think I share that opinion for too many other pieces of media, none that I can think of anyway. Fun movie, liked the parts where they were in chains, loved the shotgun revelation, and glad to see our buddy Tobin Bell making his return, why would you make a Saw movie without Jigsaw? Seems pointless to me. Anywho, I can't wait to watch Spiral, a Saw movie without the actor who plays Jigsaw! Awesome! Finally!
