“You don’t face your fears—you ride ‘em.”

As absurd as advertised. Waited to watch this one with my wife since the original convinced her as a kid that she was destined to be a storm chaser. She was, unsurprisingly, just as sold this time around, despite constantly backtracking by saying “listen, I know it’s objectively idiotic, BUT—“ after she’d get all giddy and giggly by shots of the wind picking up.

I couldn’t really care less about this sort of premise. Natural disasters don’t wow me and they especially don’t wow me when the “science” shows concrete buildings being ripped apart and trucks flying through the air all while a 120-lb woman is jogging unbothered in the middle of the street. But you know what? It’s fun as hell. Unserious & blockbuster-coded with a classic feel-good formula, backed by a great soundtrack, and featuring Glen fucking Powell being perfectly cast as always. Goddamn, do I love that man. My wife can claim the tornadoes all she wants, blondie boy is mine.
