A spiritual experience—Riki-Oh has to be the greatest cult classic of all time in my eyes. The brutal violence. The unseriously dark plot. The hall of fame gore and practical effects. The litany of campy villains. The absolutely absurd dubbing. The epic madman superhero main character. It’s like a cynical-yet-hammy elseworld R-rated Spider-Man set in a dystopian prison where every scene gets more and more epic & insane. As far as I know, nothing like it exists. Quite possibly the perfect “MATT MOVIE”.

P.S. being force-fed a mouthful of razor blades and then slapped silly is how my mom used to punish me for back talking, too!
