It took me almost eight years to see this movie; it was long overdue. I had expectations, a lot, and perhaps that initiated the eventual phase of my disappointment.
I didn't like Mad Max: Fury Road. I know telling this would upset so many of you; I can already sense those frowning gazes, and I'm well aware that I fall into the minority here with my above statement, but in the end, it is what it is. I gotta stick to my honesty like always, and this would not be made into an exception.
Now, the movie itself is not bad, but this didn't intrigue me in a way I was hoping it would. The action and the setpieces are some of the best I have ever experienced, and I do not have any problems with its technicalities as well. Matter of fact, I too enjoyed them to a certain extent.
It's just the story that failed to captivate. I have my reservations there. Neither the narrative nor the characters did much for me! I wasn't really invested in their arcs or in any of their journeys or closures. I do not know what went wrong in here, but if I have to take a safe guess, maybe the direction didn't appeal; it did not work for me like it did for so many out there, and that's quite unfortunate.
