Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling play two washed up guys who try to solve the murder of a pornstar in the 1970's. The setting is done really well, the two leads make a great duo and the action scenes are great, but this film is too dependent on its laughs so if the jokes miss for you the movie is a lot less fun than it should be. Also, for a movie so dependent on those laughs running at just under two hours is far too long and should have been trimmed by 20-30 minutes especially since the plot isn't overly interesting. Overall it's not terrible, but The Nice Guys feels like a missed opportunity.
