This shit was insane, and not necessarily the story I was expecting but so much better and full of depth. Perfectly edited character study on guilt & corruption on a huge life or death, historical scale.
I think another watch will make a lot things more clear, because there were a lot of names and the layers were peeled back like dominos. Cillian Murphy, RDJ and Emily Blunt were standouts but everybody snapped.
Every single second Einstein was on screen the theater chittered and howled like monkeys. That was 10 times the beauty any marvel cameo will be ever and is capable of being.
I loved the cinematography a lot, and the visuals & subjective use of the bomb and quantum theory (or whatever) was super dope interlaced through the whole movie and Oppenheimers degrading psyche.
This whole time I thought the movie would end on the bomb, but classic Nolan the moral conflicts for Oppy and the scandal with the senator, make up an epic third act that was much more genius and powerful. I also liked how during what I thought would be the climatic event Hiroshima & Nagasaki, it was very offhand and kind of an understated surprise to Oppenheimer and the audience. It wasn’t until he was giving the speech that you feel the weight of what happened.
The final scene was haunting and peak. Long review can’t help it sometimes but excited to watch again and glad it lived up to expectations, even if it was different.
