ehhhh i'll give this 4 stars (maybe "lower" to 3.5, which is still GOOD!!!), because i feel like it did give something new to the screen. plot-wise, this wasn't the craziest thing ever, in fact, it's pretty predictable from the start.
and i'm glad my friend had my expectations go lower since she didn't enjoy it as much as she thought she would.
yet, visually, i feel like this is an aesthetic that will stick with me. nicolas cage's character is very good, it's pretty subjective but this is the exact type of freaks that makes me shake in my seat. the gore was great, even though i really thought it would be more gore.... idk how to feel about that. the soundtrack was dope, the acting was on point, and the characters were very singular (as in unique) and interesting.
the sound was also very very great. but i feel like the editing could've given even more, it had a lot of potential (and it was still good, don't get me wrong, but eh!)
the sequencing in acts was a great idea, i like slow burn horror, it still didn't feel dragged out or anything so i think that's a win. when horror kicks in... it gets so good. i wasn't necessarily actually scared, but more like disturbed. the interrogation scene is honestly my favorite one. it was pretty sick!!
anyways, longlegs is a nice movie—even if it wasn't THE movie i wanted it to be! long live horror
