This film is everything I’d ever want from a beetlejuice sequel. From the acting to the writing, everything was a perfect way to continue the legacy. It doesn’t match the original but is definitely close.
There is so much to this film I want to talk about but I’ll start with the acting. Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton revised there roles in an unimaginable way, just the way I remembered. Michael was extremely funny and kept the beetlejuice charm throughout the film and Winona was Lydia I can’t think of any other way to say it she couldn’t be better for the role. I saw a quote from Winona where she said that the sequel had taken so long to become a thing because they were waiting for Jenna Ortega to be born and she is absolutely right. Jenna became Lydia in the fact of a sad teenager resenting her mother. This contrast was just brilliant. Next I would like to mention the amount of references to the original. Wow, I felt so happy seeing them, the red wedding dress was amazing to see and when I heard day-o begin a burst of excitement ran through me. I’m not sure on this but I believe bob was sat next to beetlejuice in the final scene of the first film. I loved how the opening credits were so similar to the original’s opening credits and I noticed the corpses of Barbara and Adam next to the bridge which was so cool.
Overall, a great way to continue the series, except from the beginning being a bit slow, it was perfect. Bobs death was a horrible experience too but I can excuse that. Well done to everyone involved. I wanted it to be brilliant after the original being so good and it was.
