La La Land is a story that is elegant and painfully realistic. The film shows us the frightening reality of trying to achieve our goals alongside a relationship. The cinematography is great. The acting was realistic and accurate. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling did an exceptional job.
The story doesn’t drag and has emotional moments that show the audience how Seb and Mia are. The soundtrack makes the film even better. I loved Seb and Mia’s theme. Throughout the film I really felt the harsh reality of what they were trying to accomplish. Although I don’t really like musicals all that much, La La Land utilizes the way of telling its story through songs very well. It added more emotional depth. “Here's to the ones who dream, Foolish as they may seem. Here's to the hearts that ache, Here's to the mess we make”
The filming locations are gorgeous. Damien Chazelle really out did himself this time, again. The ending is devastating. The dream sequence that showed us what would’ve happened if everything went right is...perfect. Without each other Seb and Mia would’ve never been able to achieve their dreams, and yet they can’t be together because of that really makes it emotionally devastating. Right person, wrong time. Just astounding.
