You just can't see a truly great film too many times. This is one of only a handful of films with a genuine claim to being the greatest ever made.
I remember the first time I saw A Matter of Life and Death, when I was like "oh, this is incredible, I can't believe it came out the same year and dealt with some similar stuff, two great classics that go great together," etc., but this is so far above and beyond that film that the comparison only demeans it.
I still think that's a five star movie, without question, so the real riddle is: what does that make this? We need another star, folks.
"Merry Christmas, movie house!" just hits a little harder this year.
