I hadn't seen Scream 4 since it's original run in theaters, and while I didn't like it as much as I remembered, it's still my second favorite in the franchise.
I still love those fakeout openings and the cast (all the originals of course, and especially one of my all time crushes, Hayden Panettiere as Kirby. I just want to chill on the couch and watch horror movies with her.)
It's a little too funny for my liking, but it all comes together nicely and I really like the whole third act, starting st Kirby's house. I remember being genuinely surprised at the reveal of the killers.
Also, just thinking about Wes Craven a lot the past couple days since his birthday was a couple days ago, and now watching his final film, has got me bummed out. I went from being so terrified of his work as a kid to reading and watching all these interviews with him later in life and just thinking he seemed like such a kind, thoughtful, and intelligent man. Still hard to believe he's not with us anymore and we won't get any more movies.
R.I.P. Wes. Thanks for the nightmares.
