i saw this thing about how in the beginning of la la land, mia’s outfits are bright and colorful to symbolize her girlhood and in the scenes where she’s older (and no longer with seb) she wears darker tones, basically insinuating that she was no longer a girl but a woman. and then in the what could’ve been sequence she’s wearing white and bright colors again, being a girl again when she is with sebastian. i think that’s beautiful.
