So, context. Watched this with mum and sister who are both massive fans of the stage show, and have seen it multiple times. They loved it - 10/10, so impressed, my mum wanted to applaud at the end.
I'm happy for them as fans that they enjoyed it so much.
For me - that first couple of hours just took it's sweet time over what seemed a simple story and it dragged. That said, the final 30 minutes is an all time banger of a sequence. Overall I'd say it's a job well done (all the individual performances are great). I enjoyed it - but the ending is what's doing the heavy lifting for my 4 stars.
