What Twilight gets about teen romance is that it is often a continuous stream of impossible obstacles shattered over and over again by an asinine insistence on giving your life to someone who can't act normal because they are too obsessed with you. Hardwicke imbues her film with this momentum, and watching is like understanding in a car crash, witnessing the dying breath of Emo.
