Jon M. Chu most certainly deserves best directing. The intention behind every shot aids in telling the extraordinary story of how Elphaba and Glinda came to be. He was able to capture on film the magic of the Broadway production all the while adding in elements to convey emotion only movies can do. With the care put into this production of Wicked, it is clear this was so much more than a just a movie. It brilliantly pays homage to all those who perform(ed) the roles of Elphaba and Glinda, and the beloved classic, “The Wizard of Oz”. Much like the Broadway production, this movie will always stand the test of time. An ever-emerald-green film
A proper review can also not be given without the recognition of the phenomenal talent present. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande graced the screen giving performances of a lifetime. The amount of care and thought these two had for their roles is evident from start to finish, both are more than deserving of best actress and best supporting actress.
