Looks like I’m two months and 19 days late to this.
However, it feels like the right time, as there’s some things I want to reflect on as this is my first official review since becoming a patron member and I have a gap in activity from August - January.
32 reviews, 69.7 hours, 2.7 films a month, and 0.6 a week. Rookie numbers, I know. But what happened?
Being out of the country all summer didn’t help, but I’d say this fall in activity can mostly be attributed to growing pains, especially in my transition to junior year of high school.
I have absolutely no reviews on my page from september 2023 until the new year. I got lazy, I wrote one-sentence reviews of films I barely even finished, and I spent most of my time stressing about homework.
Now that these reviews have been deleted, I’ve gotten a fresh start. Once I saw The Killers of the Flower Moon, a 200+ minute film, I knew I was back. And this is when my reviews started to get better and better.
I’ve rewatched multiple masterpieces in this past month, and I’ve even discovered new ones. My love for films is at an all-time high, and being able to look at stats, change posters, and more really does change the whole Letterboxd experience. I can’t wait for what’s to come and to continue narrowing down that watchlist.
2024 is going to be huge, and even though we’re already almost through February, this still feels like a fresh start.
The archives will continue to grow, no doubt.
