The Force Awakens delivers a strikingly good first 50 minutes, but it's when the legacy crew turns up that the wind goes out of its sails as it mostly offers up a facsimile of the original film.
In its defense, though, it's one of the better reboots of an old franchise. It's just a shame that Rey and Finn's kinship dissolves over this trilogy, getting muddled as the focus moved towards pairing Ben and Rey together instead.
PS: We REALLY don't care about Kylo Ren being Solo's kid, and Snoke is an inside crew joke, right?
