This was a long time coming. But I could say that for a hundred films. It doesn't mean it's not true though. Because I've wanted to watch this for awhile; even though my feelings towards Ghibli has been hit or miss.
Let me make myself clear; I love Studio Ghibli. Spirited Away is one of the best animated movies of all time. I've enjoyed the handful of films I've seen from them. But I've never fallen over in love with them.
One thing is for certain though; they are always so beautiful. From the gorgeous animation to the dream-like music. This is another one of the films from Miyazaki that is able to transport you to a whole new world.
If anything; I just wish it went on for longer. I was impressed with how much it was able to give us in this short run time. I wanted to keep it going and I could have kept watching for another hour or two.
I really liked this film quite a bit. It doesn't surprise me too much. It's been too long since I've watched Ghibli too. But that's changed with Netflix releasing all of them over the next few months.
This has to be among my favourites from Miyazaki. It's short, sweet and very charming. It'll cheer you up and make you smile as it takes you on this Alice in Wonderland-inspired story but with such an original flavour.
