When i watched Gladiator for the first time it was like a canon event. The film set the fine line of what I wanted in a film mixing epic action and raw emotion it also began my love for history especially the Roman times.
When Napoleon came out in 2023 I’d be lying if I said I was the biggest fan of it so when it was announced that Gladiator 2 was in development i had little to no hope it seemed to me that Ridley Scott wanted quantity over quality. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case and while there’s plenty of criticism on this one I think it’s a great legacy sequel that doesn’t feel like a quick cash grab. They set a new medium for the franchise introducing more action sequences and making the character of Lucius not seem like a copycat of Maximus.
