I don't know why I expected good things from this as it's pretty much the furthest thing from my type of film but I thought I'd give it a go for Anya Taylor-Joy and because I trust A24 but I.... was so bored. I'm sorry. I don't like horror much but maybe if it was scarier it would've been more entertaining. The performances were good, but I couldn't help thinking how hard it is to be emotionally convincing when speaking in ye olde english words? So extra props to anyone who can make me feel literally anything when yelling things like TO HITHER MY SON IN YOUR PRAYERS UNTO YOUR BED OF SOUR FONDNESS I CAPTURE ABED A SPIRIT WHITHER WE GO INTO THE FOREST (I'm talking to you Anya). I wish I had enjoyed it more, I would've liked to have been pleasantly surprised by how much I liked a ye olde english witchcraft film with a weird aspect ratio, but I know for sure I wouldn't watch it again and I think that tells me it just wasn't my cup of tea no matter how hard I tried to stay focused.
