This is possibly the best movie made in my lifetime. I mean that from the top of my heart to the bottom. I have never cried so hard at a movie. I truly feel like there is magic in this movie.
Cynthia Erivo kills it as Elphaba. She brings so much raw emotion to the role and her voice is beyond beautiful. Ariana Grande-Butera is phenomenal as Glinda. She’s funny and captured Glinda’s arc beautifully. Of course her vocals were also insane. Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero stole my lesbian heart. The chemistry between him, Ariana, and Cynthia is palpable. The rest of the cast was amazifiying as well, but those three stood out to me the most. Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible was an extraordinary choice.
As for the visuals, they’re STUNNING. The trailers did not do the film justice. Oz is bright and as full of life as it can be. The dancing scenes looked so fun and were very charming.
I can’t wait to see this again (hopefully soon). It’s different from the musical in all the best ways. The cast and crew truly made it their movie while respecting the musical. I can’t wait for part 2!
