Just witty enough to pass muster, but not nearly as original as it thinks it is. I appreciated the main couple enough when they actually got together, that the fact that they break up and re-unite no less than three times in the second half did not amuse me at all. Parts of this film are everything patriarchal and obnoxious in rom-coms, but other parts are surprisingly perceptive and funny, so it gets the softest pass imaginable. Mostly, though, I just got the sense that it tries to run completely on charm, gets by for most of it, and then majorly struggles to fill time.
Heath Ledger was damn cute though.
