I think this franchise succeeds the Friday the 13th and Hellraiser films when it comes to subjectivity and fandom. We will never know exactly what fans enjoy about them, to the point of it being easy to wonder if people are even watching the same film.

The Moonlight Sonata scenes, Executive Producer Madelaine Petsch’s creative choices like the iconic gold nail polish, more cool truck usage, poetic subtleties to the original (The Sprout and the Bean by Joanna Newsom returns!), and my favorite use of the “hello’s” are not enough for some reviewers, but I’m not particularly interested in the milieu as to why.
