Ahem, I hardly dare admit it, but I've only just seen this Christmas classic for the first time. Maybe I'll make a tradition out of it, because the film - especially the ending - is very emotional, even almost 80 years later. I liked the movie especially visually and of course it was great to see Donna Reed and James Steward. I think the movie hasn't aged well in some respects, of course. The idea that Mary would not have married without George and would have become “an old spinster” in her early 30s does not represent the peak of possible horror scenarios for me now. But the principle that juxtaposes empathy, cooperation and social values with capitalist calculation is, of course, universal and very nice to see.
