Gonna come right out and say it. It was better than Spirited Away.
While Spirited Away is definitely more epic and has a lot more ideas to it, Totoro has a lot more heart and personality. For the first time in a long time I can genuinely say I feel like a kid again and I can’t thank this film enough for giving me that feeling. There were many times as a kid, and even now, where I just wanted someTHING, anything, to help me in a lonely or difficult situation. Totoro representing that thing was perfect and everything I needed. I feel so not alone and so comforted right now.
