toughest part to get thru on rewatches is the 10ish minutes of the house / proposal / astrid bikes / meets boy in tree it’s by far my least fav part of the movie. Also sunk in on this watch that once Selick/Burton/Wes Anderson hang it up for good we really have no heavily stylistic fun directors in the modern era. Like in terms of Pulpy/Hot Topic fun for lack of better terms, like sure Refn & Villeneuve are stylish but they’re not really fun per se. Correct me if i’m wrong but that’s a pretty sad thought. Like who else is gonna go for this vibe and mix in claymation portions and practical monsters and critters? Nobody :(
