Similar to the recent success of The First Omen, maybe not in artistry, but in working despite impossible odds. A Netflix original romance… that’s fucking good? I’m sure that can be met with much disagreement but you’re hearing from the guy who fell in love with movies because of The Fault in Our Stars. This one’s got all the necessary ingredients: great chemistry, nothing but characters you love, an earnest commitment to all the typical romantic beats and cliches, and a back-half that consistently plays to an audience of those who are overly sentimental and love to cry (me). And boy did I cry!
