Overall Impression: Another incredible film by Damien Chazelle! He respects jazz music so much and I love how he incorporates it into his films. Mia and Sebastian are relatable and lovable characters, whilst watching them, you become so involved with their story and want them to achieve their dream in rather bringing jazz music back to life or becoming a respected actress in Hollywood.

Mia: It’s pretty strange that we keep running into each other.

Seriously everything about this film is perfect, the choreography is so mesmerising and you can tell it is inspired by old Hollywood dance breaks. A Lovely Night is my favourite scene! Emma Stone is perfect for Mia and her singing voice is so raw and emotional, Audition/Fools Who Dream is so underrated on the soundtrack! Ryan Gosling is also perfect for his role, I really respect and relate to Sebastian. Also I held back tears at every single dance scene wtf..
The ending always breaks me, it’s so heartbreaking to see soulmates look each other in the eye and then understand that it’s not meant to be but that they’ve both got their lifelong dream. I guess my only fault with the film is the 5 year jump? I never really like jumps that are over a year as it’s a little cheap but for La La Land, you don’t need to see how Mia becomes a star as we know that she already is one but it was unrecognised talent until the final audition, but I wanna know how Seb made his club! I wish the film was a little longer and showed us more of Mia & Sebastian’s relationship to make the ending even more emotional.
