Oppenheimer is Christopher Nolan's epic Biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy), who has been called the "Father of the Atomic Bomb". The film jumps around in timelines from a Courtroom/Hearing, to Oppenheimer and his team of Scientist working on the bomb. The film also leans heavily on Oppenheimer's family, love life and his relationship with Communism. This film also features an all-star cast including Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. , Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Gary Oldman, and Casey Affleck, just to name a few.
This isn't a typical Nolan film. It is far more of a Drama than an Action Film, which we are mostly accustomed to seeing from this director. I found the story to be remarkably interesting with rich characters, lively and vivid imagery and one of the better films of the year. I do also believe the film to be a bit too long for my taste, especially the final act which is more a courtroom drama. I enjoyed the film quite a bit but didn't love the film as much as many Christopher Nolan purists. I do however wouldn't be surprised to see this film featured in many categories come award season next year.
