The Flash (2023) is a movie my wife and I saw in theaters last weekend. The storyline follows Barry Allen discovering while as the Flash he can go back in time and change things. He thinks using this power to save his mom and keep his dad from going to prison is a good idea...until he gets trapped in that time without his powers. He will need to call on some old friends, who end up being new friends in this universe, to help him stop an invasion, get his powers back and get back to his universe.
This movie is directed by Andy Muschietti (Mama) and stars Ezra Miller (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Ben Affleck (The Town), Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice), Sasha Calle (On Swift Horses), Michael Shannon (Take Shelter) and Ron Livingston (The Conjuring).
The storyline for this picture is well written and had a lot of clever intricacies. The cast was outstanding, well selected and the characters are fairly well presented. I will say they could have written a better script for Keaton and Supergirl was just okay. The CGI was out of this world...but overdone in too many scenes. I enjoyed the opening sequence with the babies, every scene where Flash runs and the costume was great. However, the world where he chooses timelines was way over done, especially the end where the show multiple universes and the impact of his actions. However, the family dynamic, comedic content and solid characters make this film worth a watch. I would score this film a 6/10 and recommend seeing it once.
