Agatha Christie seems to be poking a bit of fun at the way a mystery is solved at the start of the movie . A way she developed herself. If you don’t take it too seriously it’s fun . There are still some interesting twists and turns.
Landsbury really grounded it while Taylor and Novak overacted but that’s the point so it works for the story.
