People just didn’t suspect nice white , middle class women of murder they might be considered unstable and want to institutionalize them but not of murder especially of friends and family.
Céline was covert , clever . Hathaway may have given her best performance here. The one person she didn’t fool was the more upfront and suspicious Alice until she even fooled Alice ( Chastain)who had the misfortune to be considered unstable and not believed.
Honestly it was pretty late in the film before I knew for sure who was really in the wrong. I didn’t however see that very creepy ending coming! WOW !
It definitely kept me riveted.
Anne Hathaway would be perfectly cast as Jackie Kennedy .
