Saoirse Ronan is a key figure in Blitz but make no mistake young Elliot Heffernan is the star of the film. Rita ( Ronan ) sends her son George ( Heffernan ) to Canada during the Blitz but George has other ideas. Feeling bullied ( due to being biracial) homesick he sets on his own journey home. We mostly follow along with him. There are few moments George isn’t in peril of some kind but he’s determined and resilient and has heart.
