Alright movie, strong dialogue and characters, beautiful setting and design, great actors, good build up of suspense. I suppose 'twist' movies still aren't in vogue which is why Marrowbone has such a low rating, but it was enjoyable and affective enough. The only thing that irks me is that the story feels like it was a retelling of real life events written from the perspective of Jack's caretaker, which is why we get hamfisted assertions of Allie being too good for the town, or Allie having her whole future ahead of her. Um, wasn't this story about the freaking Marrowbones who had just been chased across the Atlantic and brutally murdered, leaving the only survivor, the elder brother, irreparably damaged? And I'm supposed to care about poor little Allie?? Ffs
