What an incredible movie.
I really had no expectations going into this one except knowing that I loved Whiplash. I wasn't sure if I'd be on board with the style or even the plot of this one but any worries I had were put to rest incredibly early on.
The film starts with a hectic song and dance number involving people in cars that are stopped on a highway. From there we are introduced to our two main characters and watch as they grow closer to each other and try and get their careers off the ground.
Visually, the film is amazing. The colours, the sets, the background images and sequences. It was mesmerising. It felt like I was watching a classic film from the 1950's that was somehow set in modern times.
The songs were great. The sets were great. The actors were great. Just see this movie. It's great.
