Great performance from Naomi Scott as she gave this performance her all. But besides the point this movie was a much better adaptation than the first as i found in the sequel that the protagonist had a much more interesting and likeable script. I think what this film tried to do is give u a more likeable main character than Rose in the first film so it would give u more hope that the character could defeat this evil entity
But I would have to disagree when some people say that this film is one of the scariest films of the year, Yes it had a few decent jump-scares but weren’t overly horrifying but there was some ideas they did take from the first film such as the laptop jumpscare in Smile 1 and the phone jump-scare in Smile 2 and the same with the scene with the doctor in Smile 1 and the car scene in Smile 2 I think its pretty cool that the director Parker Finn is sort of linking the types of scares in both films.
Overall I thought this was a very solid peice of work as i wasn’t a major fan of the first project, this for me is a major upgrade. Ive seen a lot of people giving the ending to the film a lot of criticism when I thought it was perfect throughout the film it was giving u hope that Skye Riley would survive but didn’t I think that alone sets the boundaries for these films and also when she killed herself in front of the audience I think that’s a very clever way to line up a 3rd film to the smile franchise
