The Marvels is enjoyable and pretty funny, but it is not much more than that. The film juggles three main characters more or less successfully, and it just manages to introduce its new characters to those who haven't followed the slew of MCU Disney+ shows. But the film has a flimsy premise, and it generally feels like it is a contrived mashup of multiple MCU properties.
The end credit's promise of even more properties rolling out in the near future leaves me to wonder how many teams of jokey new characters the MCU can add until the franchise reaches its breaking point. I miss the days when these movies weren't all goofy comedies, and the MCU was definitely better when there were a few core characters we all cared a lot about.
