School of Rock ... rocks!
It features one of those rare instances of perfect casting to where it's impossible to find someone better to play Dewey Finn than Jack Black; he brings so much charisma and energy to the lead role.
The ensemble cast of the school kid band members is great, as they not only learn about music but themselves, and how confidence can go a long way.
It's such a simple premise on paper, but it's full of heart and humor—lots of quotable one-liners. While slightly absurd at times, there is never a dull moment.
I also love Joan Cusack as Principal Mullins here, probably my favorite role from her as well. The bar scene featuring Stevie Nicks' Edge of Seventeen might be my favorite.
And the soundtrack, such a great showcase of rock and roll hits.
