Musicals have a certain magic that Wicked managed to catapult to perfection.
The soundtrack, with those iconic songs, gave me goosebumps, and the beautiful sets, which seemed perfectly tailored, along with the flawless costumes, welcomed you into the fantastic world of Oz.
The story this movie told was equally impressive, as it explored what it’s like to be judged for being different.
Elphaba had the misfortune of being born green and was later treated as a monster, blamed for her sister’s disability—a sister whom everyone regarded with exhausting compassion.
However, I feel like the movie itself literally feels cut in half since the main conflicts were left for the sequel. It’s as if it didn’t have a true resolution, even though the final scene was absolutely fantastic.
