Mad Max: Fury Road is a lot of things but subtle is not one of those things. The film is an adrenaline rush from it's first shot, only slowing down for very brief moments. It was very interesting to see how much this film felt like other films in the series, including elements like; simple plot, limited dialogue and archetype characters. Unlike the previous films, Fury Road really knew how to shape and build action scenes, creating tension and suspense for viewers. The cinematography is a major highlight, especially the landscape shots are mesmerizing to look at, I really wish I could have seen this in theatres. All the performances are strong though with minimal dialogue, a lot of the work has to be done by the actor's charisma. This film really does one thing and while it does it very well, it did leave me wanting something more or different, especially with a longer runtime than the previous films. Overall Mad Max: Fury Road is an exciting and visually stunning film that takes the Mad Mad franchise and concept to the extreme.
